Fifth Amendment
MacInnes was the singer in Fifth Amendment, a British alternative rock band that released a self-titled full-length album in September 2000.
The group gave her experience as a vocalist and guitarist within a more conventional band structure before she entered The Prodigy’s live production.
That background would have helped her navigate the physical side of the role, although playing with The Prodigy required a different approach. The guitar needed to appear in selected sections around Liam Howlett’s programmed beats and samples rather than lead every song.
Four Prodigy Concerts
The most detailed available Prodigy member record states that MacInnes played guitar at four European concerts across 2001 and 2002.
She joined a live line-up that also included drummer Kieron Pepper, with Liam Howlett, Keith Flint and Maxim at the centre of the group.
These performances introduced developing tracks including Trigger, Nuclear and Little Goblin alongside older material. The period was experimental, and not all of the new songs eventually appeared on a studio album.
MacInnes should therefore be described as a short-term touring guitarist rather than a long-serving member or studio collaborator.
Emperors of Rome
MacInnes later formed Emperors of Rome with Dom Bouffard.
The duo developed in Berlin and created a darker mixture of rock, folk and atmospheric songwriting. MacInnes contributed vocals, guitar and drums, while the project’s published biography emphasised her instinctive, self-taught instrumental style.
Emperors of Rome released its debut single Gun Life in 2018.
Alli MacInnes’ Place in Prodigy History
MacInnes’ Prodigy involvement was short, but it belongs to an important transition.
She appeared after the classic 1990s line-up had changed and before the group fully re-established its direction with Baby’s Got a Temper, Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned and the later live band.
The available evidence supports a focused description: she was the guitarist for four European performances during The Prodigy’s 2001–2002 return to the stage.
